Thrills, Deals, and Meals

What a quick weekend! Why, Why, Why do they go so fast?????

Every Friday night North Richland Hills is featuring The Sounds of Spring concert series. We decided to get out and enjoy some gorgeous Texas Spring weather with two of our favorite people, Kev and Cole! Petty Theft was the featured band and the 3 P1's got to see some Old Gray Wolf (?????). We also enjoyed the 3D fireworks show afterwards. Um, by the way, what is not in 3D anymore?

On Saturday we held our annual garage sale at my parents house. Gosh, it takes a lot of time and energy to get rid of junk. But as expected, we were nearly sold out by 9:30!

Some observations included:

*people love to buy bras when clearly they would NEVER be able to squeeze their busoms into them

*they want anything and everything for 25cents, including Coach purses and Fossil watches

*they do not want hair extensions or computers

*short and tight must be fashionable to wear when attending garage sales

This was the home cooked meal we feasted on Sunday evening! Thank you old man Winter for one last go round!
Thank you Keko for the rockin' Chicken Pot Pie!

Barf, Blood, and a BAD attitude

Living with a 4 year old is never boring! After a slow transition into living with Aunt Keko and Uncle Dodi, I thought we were hitting our stride when-BAM! the bottom falls out! Luke was pretty quiet on Wednesday (clue #1) after swim and all he wanted to do was finish dinner and go straight to bed (clue #2). After a bath we went to say our good nights to the fam, where he snuggled with Dodi (clue #3). When we went into his room to put on his magnets for the day I turned around to see a horrified look on his face that was then followed by large quantities of the Exorcist style vomit all over the momma. OMG! I began to make some weird rescue call to my sister where I stood and continued to be pummelled by Luke's stomach contents! Mike was gone to soccer (of course) so Sara and Shane quickly took charge! I'm talkin' drill Sargent orders!!! He was sick off and on for the rest of the night and I began praying to God for mercy on the family. We can officially say we have "been there, done that" with the stomach bug about 3 months ago. He woke up all bright-eyed and ready to rock the next morning. Aren't kids resilient? On Friday afternoon while at Granny and Paw Paw's house, Luke was letting our dog, Sophie back in the house. Well, if you live in Texas you know the wind has been crazy bonkers. So, the wind caught the door along with my Dad helping Luke hold the door and-BAM! out goes Luke, who caught himself with his face on the concrete. A skinless nose, a huge egg bruise, and a scratched hand, Luke is fine and my Dad is still apologizing and cussing the wind! On Sunday morning our little angel woke up at the crack of dawn in a "not so chipper" mood. I hate days like these because I know that short of buying him a rocket ship we are in for a day of time-outs, booty spanks, and pure torture! Today was no different. He was not happy about anything and the lovely folks at Kroger got to witness this first hand! We told him that we would get him his very own little shopping cart for grocery shopping. There were none (of course) which sent him into a tailspin. Note to self-don't promise anything you are not sure of! He was full throttle at this point. I had a super small window of opportunity-I could either try, beg, and plead for him to make "good choices" or just remove him from the store audience. I chose to grab him VERY firmly and march him out of the store, leaving the buggy and Mike to finish the food mission. The man begging for money for his son's baseball team must have seen the "Mom look" and the "Oh, no you don't" on my face because he did not speak a word as we left, even though he was hounding everyone like crazy as they entered and exited the store. We sat, which seemed like forever, silent in the car having a long time out. Mike made it out and you could see the look of fear as to what he would find left of Luke in the car! We went home and he took a LONG time out/nap! All seemed well in the world for the rest of the evening, until we looked up in the sky last night to see a
FULL MOON!
Lord help his teacher today and his Mommy tonight!

On the Move

I never really thought about the transition Luke would go through when moving(duh!)

Now that we are living with Aunt Keko and Uncle Dodi he gets lots of attention-good and bad! I have noticed that he now has more of an audience when he is acting naughty. This is rough! He really puts on a show and all his bad habits are in full effect! We added "No bad words" to his behavior chart in hopes that he will chill with using "lame and fool" when referring to someone!
Mike and I were making a trip to Wally and I asked him how he liked living with Keko and Dodi. He said he only liked it a little. Then we drove past ol' Judy and he started calling out everyone's names and stuff they enjoyed, like "There's Mason's car. He likes to drive that car real fast!"
On the flip side, he has slept amazing in his new room and even met a new "guuurl" at the park! My Mom took him to a carnival over the weekend and he won a goldfish, which he creatively named Goldy!

Here are some pictures from our week{end}...

A Day with My Boy!

I rarely have time alone with my growing boy! Today I was so happy to wake up and remember that it was Monday Fun Day!

I worked a half day in the morning and then had the pleasure to pick Luke up from school.

Outside his class window! They have some talented teachers!

We had a lunch date at Rosa's!

No, he would not let me sit on the same side of the booth as him:(

Took him for his 4 year check up! Holy cow-he is 4!

I wasn't really freaked out about the well check until we got there and the receptionist taking my insurance goes, "Oh, he's here for his 4 year check? Ewww, this is the BIG one!"

What..........

Then inside the room the nurse basically said the same thing. My pits were a sweaty mess by this point!

We love our nurse practitioner! She rocks and is so real and honest and will talk your ear off, a girl after my own heart!

She loves to send nurses in to watch Luke sing Jessie's Girl and always lets him mess with all her gear! This visit was no different.

She scolded me for making him a separate meal than the one Mike and I eat, Luke asked her if she knew what bombs were (which she never batted an eye), and he even brushed her hair with my Mom's brush!

He got the pleasure of peeing in a cup, have a hearing and vision check, and 4 shots! Oh, that's what the receptionist and nurse meant. My Mom went to help me and she and Luke were both sobbing by the end~no help!

Here are his 4 year old stats....41 pounds and 40 3/4 inches tall! He scored 100% on his hearing and vision tests and all looks well! No more well check vaccines until he is 11! Woo-Hoo and Amen on that!

Then after a nap, we headed to his first swim lesson of the year!

He was a totally different kid this year! He immediately blew bubbles, put his face in the water, and jumped and went under twice!

Bonus-there are only 2 kids in the class. BOOYAH!

I am so thankful to steal moments like this with my favorite little guy!

Maniac Monday!

Gentlemen...START YOUR ENGINES!

Saturday was an all out Lucas day! We had Lucas' 4 year old pictures with a wonderful young lady named Tiffany. I cannot wait to post her work!!! It was cold and windy and Lucas woke up with a bad case of the NO's! I hope she was able to get some cute shots and I'm pretty positive she got some great ones of his inner Monster!

We went by the mall to shop for Mike some jeans and grab a bite in the Food Court. My sister and I always joke about North East mall being Club Northeast due to all the club going attire worn by mall shoppers, but even in the food court they have TV's set up with clubish music! During lunch we rocked out to the Black Eyed Peas, some country band that had most of the food court singin' along, and Jessie's Girl! Guess who rocked it out?!

Home for a quick nap and then we were off to Jerry's World for Monster Jam!

Here are some pictures of our AWESOME time!

Lucas and his favorite guy!

Look how BIG those tires are!

Lucas got to sign one of the Junkyard cars!

Us with Maximum Destruction

Lucas and Mike with the Maximum Destruction driver! He's holding Lucas up by the back of his shirt and Lucas could not have been more excited!
Lucas' Loot!

Holy Cotton Candy face and hands, and jeans, and shirt, and seat, and hair.....!

The Monster Jam fam!

Maximum Destruction lost its cover, flipped, broke in half, and caught on FIRE! I have never heard Lucas (or Mike) scream so loud!

Texas Sniffles
Mike and I have been so blessed to have a child who NEVER was sick as a baby! Up until this year we never saw the doctor if it was not a well check visit. Now with Lucas starting preschool we have seen the doctor several times! We have noticed that any change in the weather brings on a big allergy attack for our guy, which then usually turns into something else. Last night in our shuffle of bath and bedtime we accidentally overdosed him on his Singulair. He likes this nightly allergy pill, so when I asked him if he already took it with Dad he told me "No". As soon as I gave him the pill he said he already did take it and chomped it up as fast as he could. Thank God for our neighbor Nicole, who is a pharmacist! She was able to reassure me that it would be okay the one time and no Singulair tonight! I feel like we do everything possible to keep the seasonal allergies at bay, but with no success! If you have a child who suffers from the Texas Sniffles I would love to know what you do!

Happy Valentine's Day!
We had a great time celebrating Valentine's Day this year. There have been years, in high school, where Mike would fill my room with roses or spell out "I Love You" with red rose petals, but those days are long gone! When we became an "old married couple" we started celebrating at fancy places like Taco Cabana or CiCi's pizza! Then, as we became a Momma and Poppa, the day got even more lame! This year we went to eat at Double Dave's Pizza, snacked on high fat content desserts, had an Open House for Judy Way, and I went to Zumba! Here are some pictures from our day!
Lucas got a soccer goal from Granny and Papa. Doesn't he look just like David Beckham, sans the soccer shorts?!

Lucas and Keko in matching shirts! What says love like the matching attire!

Lucas getting ready for school with his cool Smurfs Valentine shirt and a smile that melts his momma's heart!

This is the special Valentine from Lucas this year! We named it "Hearty"!
(I am NOT pregnant! Remind me to NEVER wear stripes for a picture again!)

Maniac Monday!

After 4 days of snow and ice I have to say I was welcoming Monday, which is very unheard of around here! Lucas had a double ear infection last week so he missed school all week as well. Everyday at school we are given a daily sheet of things they learned and a memorable moment. On Monday, there were studying animals and in particular, elephants. Lucas does not really like to answer a lot of questions, so when he volunteers info about school, we take notice. In the bathtub tonight, he told me he was going to tell me 2 things about school and that was it!
In the words of Lucas Corgan they were...
1. Elephants that people shoot are called "in danger"!
2. Cade was not at school 'cause he has in-flu-enza!
Mike went on to teach him the name of the people that shoot these "in danger" animals as poachers, or as Lucas now calls them "pokers". He also told Mike that he was a poker 'cause Daddy has a gun and shoots birds at our house.
*Side note*
Mike did borrow a BB gun from a friend to scare away the grackles in our front tree, but he doesn't shoot birds on our street! I'm pretty sure the teacher (or CPS) will be calling to ask why Lucas' father shoots animals in the city in front of small children! Awesome:)

NFL Experience
Mike took Lucas to the NFL Experience in Dallas on Sunday. They boarded the TRE train and set out for a day of football! Here is our BIG Football star!
Something happened here that may or may not have damaged some one's ego!

Our #1 guy!

How adorable is this!!!

Thanks to Mike for braving the crowds and taking Lucas on this adventure of a lifetime!
